Description:
STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF CONTINUATION OF STA

ARMADA MEDIA - MCCOOK, INC., HEREBY REQUESTS A FURTHER EXTENSION OF THE SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY THAT HAS BEEN ISSUED TO PERMIT IT TO OPERATE STATION KBRL(AM) NON-DIRECTIONALLY DURING THE DAYTIME AT 1.25 KW AND NON-DIRECTIONALLY DURING THE NIGHTTIME AT .034 KW. THE STA WAS ORIGINALLY GRANTED ON JUNE 13, 2007, AND WAS EXTENDED AND MODIFIED BY LETTER OF FEBRUARY 19, 2008.

THE STA REQUEST ORIGINALLY WAS NECESSITATED BY THE FACT THAT THE STATION'S TRANSMITTER HAD BEEN DAMAGED BY FLOODING AT THE TRANSMITTER SITE, WITH THE RESULT THAT THE STATION WAS REQUIRED TO OPERATE WITH A BACKUP TRANSMITTER AT REDUCED POWER.

THE NEED FOR THE MODIFICATION AROSE BECAUSE OF THE DISCOVERY THAT IT WOULD BE NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE STATION'S PHASOR AND ANTENNA TUNING UNITS, WITH THE RESULT THAT THE STATION WOULD BE REQUIRED TO OPERATE IN THE NON-DIRECTIONAL MODE.

THE TRANSMITTER BUILDING, WHICH WAS FLOODED, HAS NOW BEEN REPAIRED AND NEW ELECTRICAL SERVICE HAS BEEN INSTALLED. A NEW PHASOR AND NEW ANTENNA TUNING UNITS HAVE BEEN ORDERED AND ONE OF THE ATU'S HAS BEEN DELIVERED, WITH THE PHASOR AND THE REMAINING ATU PROJECTED TO BE DELIVERED THE 1ST OR 2ND WEEK OF SEPTEMBER. A NEW TRANSMITTER HAS BEEN ORDERED AND IS EXPECTED TO BE DELIVERED NEXT WEEK. THE CONSULTING ENGINEER WHO IS EFFECTUATING THE REPAIRS HAS SCHEDULED THE INSTALLATION OF THE EQUIPMENT FOR THE FIRST AND SECOND WEEKS OF SEPTEMBER.

ARMADA MEDIA - MCCOOK, INC., IS THUS RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT ITS SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY BE EXTENDED SO AS TO ALLOW IT TO OPERATE AND THUS SERVE THE PUBLIC WHILE IT TAKES DELIVERY OF, AND INSTALLS, THIS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT THAT WILL PERMIT THE STATION TO AGAIN OPERATE AT FULL LICENSED POWER.
