Description:
REASONS FOR EXTENSION OF STA

THIS REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF STA (MOST RECENTLY EXTENDED BY LETTER DATED DECEMBER 27, 2011 UNDER BESTA-20100505AMM) IS TO CONTINUE OPERATIONS AS PREVIOUSLY AUTHORIZED TO OVERCOME SEVERE INTERFERENCE FROM A CUBAN BROADCAST STATION. RECENT OBSERVATIONS DURING DAY AND NIGHTTIME TEMPORARY INTERRUPTIONS OF WMEN'S TRANSMISSIONS FOR MAINTENANCE EVIDENCED CONTINUED RECEPTION OF CUBAN BROADCAST TRANSMISSIONS AT LEVELS CONSISTENT WITH A LOCAL BROADCAST STATION. AS SUCH INTERFERENCE CONTINUES UNABATED, WMEN REQUESTS THAT IT BE PERMITTED TO CONTINUE OPERATIONS AS SPECIFIED IN THE COMMISSION'S LETTER DATED MARCH 12, 1998.
