Description:
REASON FOR STA

STA EXTENSION REQUEST 5/12/14:

WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT THE FCC EXTEND OUR CURRENT REDUCED POWER STA WHILE WE CONTINUE OUR EFFORTS TO RESTORE OPERATIONS PURSUANT TO OUR STATION LICENSE. THE PUBLIC INTEREST, CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY WOULD BE WELL SERVED BY A GRANT OF THIS STA EXTENSION REQUEST.

--------------------

IN AUGUST, 2011 KXET WAS FORCED TO LEAVE THE AIR BECAUSE OF SIGNIFICANT VANDALISM TO ITS TRANSMITTER SITE.

KXET'S LICENSEE, A HISPANIC OWNED BROADCASTING COMPANY, RETURNED THE STATION TO THE AIR ON JUNE 8, 2012 WITH A LOW POWER AM TRANSMITTER CAPABLE OF PRODUCING 100 WATTS OF POWER ALONG WITH THE STATION'S LICENSED NON-DIRECTIONAL ANTENNA AND GROUND SYSTEM PURSUANT TO A SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY GRANTED IN FILE NO. BSTA-20120606ACK. THAT STA EXPIRES ON DECEMBER 8, 2012.

KXET WOULD LIKE TO COMMENCE USING A 1,000 WATT TRANSMITTER IN PLACE OF THE 100 WATT TRANSMITTER GOING FORWARD, WHILE IT CONTINUES TO WORK ON RETURNING THE STATION TO FULL 5,000 WATT LICENSED OPERATION.   THEREFORE, BUSTOS MEDIA HOLDINGS, LLC RESPECTFULLY REQUESTS A NEW STA PERMITTING OPERATION WITH 1,000 WATTS OF POWER DURING DAYTIME HOURS (AND 10 WATTS AT NIGHT).

THE PUBLIC INTEREST, CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY WOULD BE WELL SERVED BY A GRANT OF THIS STA, WHICH WILL PERMIT THE LICENSEE TO PRESERVE THE KXET LICENSE WHILE A PLAN IS DEVELOPED TO RETURN THE STATION TO FULL POWER OPERATION.
