Description:
REASON FOR STA EXTENSION

SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE DURING THE CURRENT STA EXTENSION PERIOD. HOWEVER, DURING THE COURSE OF THE REQUIRED FIELD MEASUREMENTS ON THE FOUR TOWER ARRAY FOR CONVERSION TO METHOD OF MOMENTS (MOM) MEASUREMENT WE DISCOVERED THAT ONE OF THE TOWERS SAMPLE LINE WAS SIGNIFICANTLY SHORTER THAT THOSE OF THE OTHER THREE TOWERS. THIS CAUSED A DELAY WHILE WE ORDERED, RECEIVED AND INSTALLED THE CORRECT LENGTH OF SAMPLE LINE FOR THIS TOWER. AFTER THIS FIX IT LED TO THE DISCOVERY THAT THE PHASE MONITOR WOULD NOT PROPERLY CALIBRATE AND HAD TO BE SENT TO THE FACTORY IN MARYLAND FOR REPAIR AND RECALIBRATION.

WHEN THE PHASE MONITOR WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE THE ENGINEERS WERE THEN ABLE TO COMPLETE THE REMAINING MEASUREMENTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE CALCULATIONS THAT WILL LEAD TO THE NEXT STEP IN THE MOM PROCESS. THESE MEASUREMENTS HAVE BEEN SENT TO HATFIELD AND DAWSON ENGINEERS AND WE EXPECT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS FROM THEM BY MID JULY.

WE WILL THEN HAVE THE CALCULATIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS NECESSARY TO CONDUCT MEASUREMENTS TO COMPLETE THE FIELD WORK SO THAT HATFIELD AND DAWSON CAN THEN FINALIZE THE APPLICATION FOR THE MOM CONVERSION. BARING ANY UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES WE EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT WITHIN THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS. ACCORDINGLY, WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST AN EXTENSION OF THE CURRENT STA FOR KVTA(AM).
