Description:
REASON FOR REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF STA

BY LETTER DATED JULY 31, 2007, THE FCC GRANTED SPECIAL TEMPORARY AUTHORITY PERMITTING STATION KEND TO OPERATE WITH A STANDBY ANTENNA AT REDUCED POWER IN LIGHT OF THE FACT THAT THE STATION'S ANTENNA WAS DAMAGED BY A LIGHTNING STRIKE. BY LETTER DATED AUGUST 30, 2007, PECOS VALLEY INFORMED THE FCC THAT THE DAMAGED ANTENNA HAD BEEN REMOVED (AND A STANDBY ANTENNA INSTALLED) SO THAT THE DAMAGE COULD BE ASSESSED IN ORDER TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE ANTENNA COULD BE REPAIRED OR SHOULD BE REPLACED. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A NEED TO ACQUIRE A NEW ANTENNA TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED ANTENNA. PECOS VALLEY HAS ORDERED A NEW ANTENNA. THE ADDITIONAL TIME IS NEEDED TO ALLOW FOR THE RECEIPT AND INSTALLATION OF THAT NEW ANTENNA. THE CURRENT STA IS SCHEDULED TO EXPIRE ON OCTOBER 31, 2007 AND IT IS REQUESTED THAT THE STA BE EXTENDED FOR AN ADDITIONAL 90 DAYS IN ORDER TO ALLOW PECOS VALLEY TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW ANTENNA AND RESUME REGULAR LICENSED OPERATIONS.
