Description:
EXPLANATION FOR EXTENSION OF STA

WE HAVE BEEN OPERATING THE STATION AT REDUCED POWER BECAUSE OF LIGHTNING DAMAGE AND NEED TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE ANTENNA AND/OR TRANSMITTER. BECAUSE THE ANTENNA IS OVER 30 YEARS OLD, WE ARE PLANNING TO REPLACE THE ANTENNA RATHER THAN TO REPAIR IT. WE WERE GRANTED A STA TO OPERATE AT REDUCED POWER TO CONTINUE SERVICE UNTIL A NEW ANTENNA IS ACQUIRED AND INSTALLED. THIS REQUEST IS FILED TO EXTEND THE PRIOR STA WHICH COVERED REDUCED POWER OPERATION TO AUGUST 5.   WE EXPECTED TO HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE BY THIS DATE, BUT AS WE PROGRESSED IN MAKING REPAIRS, WE FOUND SECTIONS OF TRANSMISSION LINE THAT WERE DAMAGED THAT MUST BE REPLACED, AND THE INSURANCE ISSUES FOR NEEDED FUNDS WERE NOT RESOLVED UNTIL EARLIER THIS MONTH. ACCORDINGLY, WE NEED AN EXTENSION OF THE STA. WE HAVE MADE PROGRESS WITH THE REPAIRS AND ASSUMING NO UNEXPECTED SET-BACKS, WE WILL BE ABLE TO CONCLUDE FINAL REPAIRS TO GET THE STATION OPERATING WITH FULL POWER BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR.
